Get Your Kids Moving Or Face The Consequences

Sitting still for three hours causes a child’s arteries to be less stretchy and responsivea a change that would equal an increased heart-disease risk for adults, according to a study
of 7- to 10-year-olds from the University of British Columbia.

But kids who moved around for ten minutes in between each hour of sitting did not have the same decrease in artery function, even though they were sedentary for the same amount of
time.

Split up sitting with at least one exercise break per hour, researchers say.
