Floating Fun For Toddlers

The secrets of a baby swimming expert

On holiday your toddler will want some independence in the pool, particularly if he enjoys swimming, so make sure you invest in a float jacket. When you first use the jacket in the pool, take the time to make sure that your child has the right buoyancy – he should be floating at about shoulder depth and be able to right himself from back to front, and vice versa, and not slip through.

However, the most important thing to remember is to make sure that he has time wearing the float, and time without it, so he understands he doesn’t always float – otherwise he might jump in thinking he’s going to float and get a nasty surprise!
